We’ll see, there is a lot of maybes. The draft itself had a typical MB/Timmins feel.I was sick and tired of the excuses with Nero .... everything is hard to do or get
Hugo made more positive moves in 3 -6 months that Nero didnt do for a near decade .
Every move is a rational hockey decision in the best interest of the team , not the player or media .
They nailed the trade deadline and the draft so far looks promising .
There is a plan in place to get younger , faster with a long term vision .
I am convinced Hugo wouldnt of fucked up the contracts of Price/Gally/Armia /Alzner/ etc...
They would not of went all in with Weber IMO and patched ever since .
The offense will be fine. It was after MSL took over as well. We’ll see, there is a lot of maybes. The draft itself had a typical MB/Timmins feel.
I’m not sold on Dach but I appreciate the gamble.
Nailed the Chiarot trade but I thought the Lehkonen and Toffoli returns were underwhelming.
Not a fan of the Matheson trade yet.
Our defense is way worse than last year with no improvements in net and very little on offense (good for the tank).
I like his recruiting in analytics and player development however but so far a lot seems to rely on MSL being a coaching genius.
I’m not concerned about the offense, next season is a transition year with the prospect of another high pick, which I’m fine with. The offense will be fine. It was after MSL took over as well.

Barring him getting divorced it was important to get Petry (Julie Petry, at least) out of Montreal. It’s possible, even likely, Petry would have fetched more at the trade deadline. But I assume the mood would have been untenable so they moved him.
In the end, I think PLD plays in Winnipeg at least this year before he is traded.
Winnipeg needs to figure out what drives everyone out. People focus on PLD but apparently, Sheifele and Wheeler want out too. As someone stated, PLD said he was seeing himself resign long therm with the jets than months later, everyone wants to jump ship.
There has been a lot of talks on the jets subreddit about how the locker room is apparently a cancer in Winnipeg. Stastny when he left said it was one of the most toxic locker rooms he had ever been part of. It's more than just being Winnipeg. There are some rotten apples that are making people want to leave. They need to address this ASAP or else, they will lose everyone and no one will want to play there.
It's not the first time players requested to be traded in Winnipeg and some got their wish to be traded where they wanted (Troube, Kane?). It puzzled me that Brisson, a season agent, would go on live TV and mention PLD wants to play for the habs. For PLD to be at the Bell center on draft day, he was probably told he was getting traded to MTL on that day but something happened and the deal fell off (rumors is the Jets were pressuring the habs to include a prospect they didn't want to include and jets were hoping on draft day the habs would cave, which didn't happen). I'm guessing PLD got frustrated, they had behind closed-door discussion that didn't go the way they wanted and then Brisson went live on TV to mention PLD wants to be a habs.
Seems far-fetched. I doubt it.Rumour was Habs made the Romy deal to get #13 and do more
They were to flip #13 +++ to Ottawa for #7 and flip it to Peg for PLD in a package deal
Hugo had the Dach deal on the sidelines if they couldnt pull it off
Especially since Hughes clearly stated he’d agreed to the deal some 3-weeks prior to the draft.Seems far-fetched. I doubt it.
Schiefele.Winnipeg needs to figure out what drives everyone out.
I believe the Jets have the right per CBA to extend deadline:So what happens if PLD doesn’t accept his QO by today’s deadline?
I believe the Jets have the right per CBA to extend deadline:
From the 2012 CBA:
A Qualifying Offer shall automatically expire at 5:00 p.m. New York time on July 15; provided, however, that the Club may by written notice to Central Registry and the NHLPA, sent in accordance with Exhibit 3 hereof, provided on or before 5:00 p.m. New York time on July 15, extend the deadline for Qualifying Offer acceptance to a date (which must be a fixed and definitive calendar date) determined in its sole discretion
It's to be expected. I believe they force him to play this year then trade him next summer. Unless a good offer comes in that is.That seems to make the trade less likely.
