So Anthropic, the makers of Claude AI, just ran a study on the impacts of AI on coding.

Results:

1. Improvements in Efficiency are "statistically insignificant"
2. relying on AI hurts the user's ability to learn how to code and de-bug the code when necessary, which made the AI-users code fail significantly more frequently than the hand-coders'.

welp.

even I thought that would AI would help with something like coding, at least. seems i was too pro-AI all along.

of course, the study concludes by stating the best fix for this problem is....more AI.

I'll 10000% defer to experts in the field there, but I'd be beyond shocked if this wasn't just a LLM doing what it's supposed to do: use probability to guess the output it's been prompted to provide and there's no deeper "there" there, but yeah. Because if we invented sentience that hallucinates 30% of the time, well, we've fucked up even worse than I previously though. Imagine only being able to invent psychotic people.

Good. I installed a new NVME as my boot drive and if it writes too much at once, it crashes. It's a higher end Samsung drive on updated Samsung firmware, with every scan imaginable run on it and it's operating perfectly otherwise. Almost definitely a Windows 11 issue. I get ugly windows explorer lag on all of my drives when I first try to open one up, I've had to go into settings to get it to simply stop trying to back up anything to onedrive, that kept lagging my system with a few crashes along the way until I figured that out. Also, fuck copilot.
 
I've been running Mint for a while on my mini PC and it works quite well. Every time I boot back into Windows I'm annoyed by the performance drop.
