The Good The Bad & The Ugly - Game 2 - Habs vs Capitals

All he wanted for his birthday was a letter on his chest. Plekanec is a happy camper.

We beat three teams tonight, the Caps, the refs and the shitty version of the Habs.

Well.....the shitty Habs really only appeared in the first period. I was pleased with how they played the latter 40 minutes. It's game two, we have some new faces and are looking to shake off some rust.

Also teams on their home opener tends to start completely fired up while the visiting team is tired of waiting from the ceremonies. It's an excuse but still.

As a side note, I've been very impressed with Malhotra so far in the first two games. What a great pickup for our team!

The ugly was definitely Bruce Orpik who was on a mission to hit top Habs players all night. Some of his hits, as usual, were attempts to injure. Next game against the Caps, one of our guys will have to take care of him before he does any damage.

does not help when the team lands at 3am the night before.... by the time the players are in their beds, it's at least 5-6 am....

Kudos to Orpik, he caught several Habs with heads down and pasted Pacioretty into glass, is his job and if Subban had of flattened Backstrom, most HabFans would applaud, even though definite attempt to injure?
Does Emelin pull his punches to not hurt opposing players? Not a chance.

Brooks Orpik is vastly overpaid and I think he was just trying to show his "worth" in his first game with the Caps. He won't play like that every game.

I don't recall Orpik being that physical against us with the Pens. He clearly wanted to get the fans on his side right away given his crazy contract.
