60+ goal Matthews was a force of nature and a thing to behold.

I wonder if we’ll ever see that level from him again.

He also just doesn’t seem to have the same level of excitement and enthusiasm during games. He went from inferno to campfire. I don’t know if it’s a reaction to whatever injury he’s been dealing with, or if he just lost the fire somewhere.

The best free agent the Leafs ever got. Also the second best they ever got after this summer.

Watching that video is insane. He has scored so many good goals. Pretty much all of them with a ton of effort or a bunch of skill with his deflections and creative little moves around the net. I bet just a video of his assists would be entertaining because he’s a very underrated passer and has set up a lot of nice goals.

Just an amazing player in every respect, and we all figured years 6 and 7 might be bad. Here’s year 8 and he’s better than ever.

No issue with the player but team was too flawed for him to be the missing piece and his salary screwed your chance to ink the yutes cheaper

He was the right add, a 1C on the second line.

Our problem has never been the high end guys. Yeah they all vanish in games 6 and 7, but tbh, so does the depth.

We would’ve won cups if they had just done two things differently.

1. Kept Kadri.

2. Kept Hyman.

That’s it. There was no rocket science involved.

What I have found interesting is Leaf fans cum-in-their-pants over puck and board battles and no one in the NHL does it better than Tavares. Yet he really is so underrated in doing that.
An all-time great Leaf.

That's only because of COVID though. No one would care about his contract if that didn't happen.
Also, what really got those 3 their deals was their own play. Their stats spoke for them.
