Moot though. With this org, it's probably still Ronnie in a slam dunk even if Lou Lamoriello, Stan Bowman, and Ken Freakin' Holland all decided they were up for a new challenge and fought over the job.

The Blue Devils easily make twice the profits in one basketball season that the Canes do in one NHL season. Not even a close comparison. I'm sure Duke sells 10x more apparel and licensed gear too, and their TV money probably makes the NHL look like Sesame Street. Duke basketball players make less than $100,000* per year. The average Canes player makes over 20x that amount.
Tuition, room & board, meals, clothes, per diems when on the road, etc.

Gillis screwed up and lost BOTH his of starting goalies for little return. I've seen enough bad GM decisions to last me a while, no thanks.
Dave Tippett already has a job, coaching Phoenix.
One correction to Muller's coaching resume...he had 1 year as head coach at Queens University in Kingston, ON going 8-13-1-2. He went to Montreal the next season. He had 17 games with Milwaukee

PK interview between periods didn't tell me much of anything. Tweaks needed but likes core but some tweaks might be big...season ticket sales down...goalies being hurt was a part of the issue ( really?) He did mention attitudes needing a change..

He was exhibiting some strange body language during that interview. Maybe he was just posturing? Gauging reaction? God I hope so or we are gonna suck yet again. Just some tweaks, some might be big tweaks, prolly just some tweaks. Wtf dude?

I'm hoping that's just yet another example of PK talking off the top of his head and being out of the loop. Because if "we like our group" and "the light got in our eyes" as the level of excuse for missing the playoffs...well, that's not reassuring this little corner of the fan base.

And, another thing that deeply concerns me is the Haig aspect that somehow PK is in control of these kind of decisions going forward rather than the GM, who should be the only one making those personnel calls.
My seat mate keeps reminding me this is just a mom-and-pop organization. And tonight was yet another reminder that, of course, he's right.

Whoever our coach will be, I hope we someone who can make changes to match our personnel, as well as make adjustments to the different teams we play. Muller's "just stay the course" is a recipe that no great coach would make in the face of the many variables we face in a given season.
Yeah ... I just about barfed. Probably would have if I had been able to eat dinner at a normal time last night.
Seriously Pete. I understand that the filter between your brain and your mouth has never really been correctly installed but you just can't go into this particular season end with that comment. Not after your fan base has actually paid up and shown up at the building to watch the slow motion train wreck that was this season.

I'm taking those ads to be targeted towards business owners or managers in an effort to convince then that buying season tickets that you can use to either give to your clients OR take them to a game in hopes of talking business is a valuable tool.
Season tix as a business investment has some value. Your typical client being brought to the game by you on your dime isn't going to care that much that the Canes don't make the playoffs. NHL hockey is still NHL hockey....in this case the game and the experience are the value more than whether or not the Canes are any good.
