**William Nylander signs for 6 years, per Dreger**

Tough part about trading him is that of the three big boys, I'm betting he'll be the biggest bargain. Good thing is they don't have to decide now.

Somehow unloading marleau and Zaitsev would go a long way for sure.

McKenzie: Nylander has a 10-team NTC in the final year of the deal only. He wasn’t eligible for any NTC in the first five years.

6.5 was always a bit low anyways. The cap went up a lot last year more than it has in a long time.

Just wait until Seattle joins the league and the cap increases even more. All these deals will look like robbery. The hard part will be next season and it's all because of marleau and Zaitsev, not nylander.

Maybe if they held tougher with Zaitsev they could have shed another couple million from his contract.

Pierre is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I've generally enjoyed his coverage up to now, but I have to say, my opinion of Lebrun has plummeted during this Nylander holdout.

He's come up with just the dumbest takes, a bunch of clickbait nonsense and some truly idiotic trade rumours.

I think this deal is gonna end up looking every bit as much as a bargain as the Pasternak and Kadri deals.

Like, really bad. His comment sections on the A are almost universally condemning.

He's not wrong though. Willy did well to hold out. Leafs likely did too. Willy was most certainly asking for more than the 7 mil cap hit in the summer. Both sides win.

Yeah, talk of Seattle has not drawn much interest, but that is fantastic news for the Leafs with their future cap situation. The MGM deal was great as well.

Not a whole lot of opinion involved....pretty cut and dry if they opened at $6x6....never wanted to go above $6.5m....and ended at $6.9m

Unless one thinks he's outright lying.

For those who dont usually watch pregame:

From my friend who works for HNIC
@SNkylebukauskas will have 1 on 1s with Babcock (happening in 8 minutes) and Dubas. Will air both during pregame at 6:30pm ET!!

Yeah, a lot of Leaf fans are in for a reminder of just how good this guy is.

If we're doing the comparison game, I think Marner is and will continue to be a better NHL player than Nylander. But Willy really isn't too far off.

I don't think anyone knew much of anything all along - other than that Savard leak, which ended up pretty accurate.

Yeah, that's the part people seem to have trouble accepting.....Leafs can cave (which they did) and still end up with an amazing deal. That's the beauty of RFA's and how heavily it favors teams.

Unless you're Edmonton, it's kinda hard to really f*ck em up.
