**William Nylander signs for 6 years, per Dreger**

He's not wrong though. Willy did well to hold out. Leafs likely did too. Willy was most certainly asking for more than the 7 mil cap hit in the summer. Both sides win.

Yeah, that's the part people seem to not factor in.....Leafs can cave (which they did) and still end up with an amazing deal. That's the beauty of RFA's and how heavily it favors teams.

Unless you're Edmonton, it's kinda hard to really f*ck em up.

It'd be a win for Dubas if he's "forced" to move Zaitsev because of this contract and the projected Marner one. Sorry Babs.

I don't think anyone knew much of anything all along - other than that Savard leak, which ended up pretty accurate.

Yeah like I say.....if one outright believes he's lying/making it up....you can really easily dismiss what he said.

Both the Marleau and Zaitsev deals could easily be moved. As well as Connor Brown

Yeah, I'm already hearing they can't be moved. It's the same I heard about Phaneuf and Clarkson. They can be moved no doubt. They need to obviously pay Marleau's bonus first.
Brown would be so easy to move and should be to save 1-1.5 million.

Yeah, a lot of Leaf fans are in for a reminder of just how good this guy is.

If we're doing the comparison game, I think Marner is and will continue to be a better NHL player than Nylander. But Willy really isn't too far off.

I've only got one real concern about Willy and that's whether he has enough balls/drive for high danger work. It's a pretty minor concern though. He's got all the makings of an elite offensive force and we have him for his primo years at less than a $7M caphit.

CJ:
William Nylander contract breakdown:
$10M salary, $2M SB
$700,000 salary, $8.3M SB
$2.5M salary, $3.5M SB
$2.5M salary, $3.5M SB
$2.5M salary, $3.5M SB
$2.5M salary, $3.5M SB

Year 1 AAV: $10.21M
Year 2-6 AAV: $6.97M

Can't expect marleau to be movable really. That NMC is killer. He's having the time of his life in Toronto.

Zaitsev can be moved though, absolutely.

Marleau could retire potentially leaving the Leafs to dump his cap hit to a team trying to reach the floor.

I just think they were all guessing. I don't recall Lebrun reporting much in terms of numbers (other than maybe repeating what others had said).

The insiders have been made largely irrelevant ever since Nonis was dumped.

Long-term if you trade one of the big guys I can't imagine nylander would be the wisest. Matty and marner are likely getting 3-6 mil more per year. Are they THAT much better than him? Obviously you keep them all but willy has a chance to be a nice bargain. Not sure the other two do.

Sorry update:

Babcock interview is solid. Dubas won’t be at the rink until first intermission approx.

You're counting on a guy to retire on a cup contending team having the time of his life while bagging a million or two. That's not realistic.

yeah, I think we're stuck with Marleau. He's been showing signs of life lately but another season is kind of scary to think about.

Yeah, I'm saying you would need to believe he's lying in the tweet I posted.

patty's gonna get his 20gl/50pt pace again, while playing against some of the toughest competition.

he's fine.
