OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Nimmala is high risk for sure. He’s athletic and toolsy and young enough that you have to excuse his lack of dominance in the minors. But prospects like this flame out more often than not. If you have a chance to turn that into an arm like Soriano, you take it.

This is part of the re-tool, this is good. Now bring in a couple of upside prospects and the deadline will have been a success.
Solid trade for the Jays , good pitchers cost the moon in free agency and team has a few more years of control.
 
Unless someone gives me a clear calculation showing that Gaus' remaining money was likely to make the difference in a payroll penalty i'm starting to lean towards the jays maybe having accomodated a request by him to move to a more clearcut contender.
