2025-26 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

Freddie Andersen is close to securing his 2nd $250k 35+ performance bonus should the Canes successfully advance to the Eastern Conference finals. He cashed in his first one by playing in 35 games this year (his exact regular season total). His playoff bonus is for the Canes making the Conference finals AND Freddie playing at least 50% of the games.

In addition to Freddie, Nikishin almost certainly hit some of his entry level bonuses as well this season (he had $3 million worth of them). Stankoven had a more modest $32,500 in potential entry level bonuses. With the ample cap space the Canes had available for this season, none of these will impact our cap hit for next season.

I'm just gonna say it...I could easily see the Canes making another one-year contract to Freddie, regardless of what happens next in the playoffs.

(Not my money) Well spent

It's uneasy watching and hearing all the TV and radio analysts talk up the Canes now. After many had written them off against Ottawa.
It’s 9 years of accumulated PTSD. The same thing happens after a 2 game losing streak. I’m almost over it. Almost.

So, how long does it take to break the scar tissue of that 9 year nightmare? Because I’m begging you to say 8 years.

Given the two goalies under contract have yet to demonstrate their starter creds, I fully expect the Canes to sign an UFA. Given who will be available and the number of teams looking for a starter, I suspect we’ll stay with what we know- Andersen, Busse and Kochetkov.
