2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

Mavrick Bourque and Ilya Lybushkin to the Preds for a pair of draft picks.
2027 2nd rounder and 2028 3rd rounder to Dallas. Pure salary dump for them. Nashville continues to re-build their bottom 6 with Bourque, who MIGHT have a bit of offensive upside but is definitely a useful forechecker and energy guy. Lyubushkin is just a garden variety thumper so far as I can tell, but at least he can skate a little … which will help on that mostly stationary Nashville back line. Still, having over $15 million tied up in him, Skjei and Hague is suboptimal at best. If Nashville is serious about being a playoff team again, and it looks like they are, then they’ve GOT to use the rest of their Cap on cobbling together a proper second D pairing.

Interesting smoke coming out of Toronto that even Dave Pagnotta is in on...Werenski to the Leafs...but could it be a high end player like Willy Nylander and not Matthew Knies heading the other way...Dandy Don might have a blockbuster coming.

$11.7m x 5 for Hischier in New Jersey on an extension...we can all thank our lucky stars on some of the contracts locked up for Jarvis, Stanky, Blake etc here on the home front!!!
Yeah, Carolina looks good up front … but that’s what the market is right now and NJ couldn’t afford to play games at center. Hischier was in the right position at the right time to cash in big.

Maybe I’m off base but I can’t imagine a showboat like Nylander waiving his no-move to go to Columbus. Not just because it’s freaking Ohio, either. They’re a long way from competing for anything meaningful. Maybe they get a third team involved? After all, with so few free agents there are plenty of sharks in the water today

With Werenski sharing the same agent as Matthews in Judd Muldover, who actually had an interview for the Leafs GM job...he is probably thinking let's back up the Brinks Trucks for extensions for both Matthews and Werenski in a year or so and spend all the Leafs money!!! :ROFLMAO:

Looks like Montreal got Demidov locked in at $9.125 mil AAV for 8 years with most of the money in signing bonuses. That’s a bet on his offense coming along, but probably a pretty safe one. Good work by Montreals front office … again. I like what they’re cooking up there structurally.

I get that part. It’s the Nylander to Columbus part you were talking about that would actually shock me

Florida has extended Luostarinen … 8 years at $5 mil AAV. Good business for them. Unsung but key part of that forward group.

You might be right...a 3 team trade bringing Dallas into the mix as an example lets Willy go to a bigger market like Dallas and not Columbus.

Zach Werenski to Toronto/Willy Nylander to Dallas/Jason Robertson to Columbus!

Looks like Columbus is holding off on doing anything with Werensky for now. Detroit is definitely making Larkin sweat it out for a while. The only US Olympic want-away where it looks like his team is gearing up for a move is Hellebuyck. Winnipeg has signed Stuart Skinner to a significant enough contract that you'd assume they will actually move Hellebuyck.

Florida is out of that picture and Vegas is already $2 million and change into the Pietrangelo LTIR pot so they’d be a stretch as well. Carolina has held off on Carlson and said to be interested. We’ll see.
