Fantasy Baseball Rules Changes & Deadlines

It is okay. Rosters are finalized at midnight tonight.

i'm wondering why we are freezing them tonight? with a new manager just joining yesterday i don't see the reason behind this, give him a chance to make some changes prior to the draft if he so chooses. seems pointless to me to freeze em tonight. just freeze the roster the day before the draft.

Deckie had mentioned freezing them as soon as Killer submitted his list. I suggested pushing it back to later tonight to give everyone time to make last minute changes. We should confirm if we want to start the draft soon, or wait until March 1. To be honest, it's a real pain in the ass trying to police these lists, lol. I'd like to see them finalized sooner rather than later. Killer's had a couple of days but I do agree with your general point there, he can let us know if he feels he needs a little bit more time to get set up. That's only fair.

Yeah I agree with this. Also would that mean there would be a trade freeze up until the draft?

Trades could probably still be made, provided that both teams remain within roster parameters after the deal (ie. 20 protected, 15 minors, 5 unprotected). Or they could be "completed" but not officially implemented until the draft starts.

Yeah exactly. If KS is confident and ready to go, I'd like to freeze the rosters, go through all the lists with a fine tooth comb, and start the draft by Mar 1 at the latest. Earlier if everyone is good to go.

I didn't have time to really assess the team and I am just getting familiar with scoring, minor league etc. So I am going to stay put and not going to make any moves for the moment. So I am good with going ahead with the draft.

Speaking of lists, I may have missed something so all teams need to double-check their lists as mentioned previously. I did see that:

1. Mindzeye has 41 players in Fantrax. Needs to drop 1 to match his list.
2. Montana has 41 players in Fantrax. Needs to drop 1 to match his list.
3. JaysCyYoung has 41 players in Fantrax and on his list. Needs to drop 1 guy from both.
4. Cheech has 34 players on his list, 37 in Fantrax. Also Pestano. Needs to get both synchronized.
5. Metalleaf has 8 unprotected players on his list. Needs to be 5.

Bumping this. I think Cheech's roster is up to speed, the others still need to be addressed.

Looks like Montana dropped 2 guys, now has 40 names on his list and 39 in Fantrax. Mindzeye dropped a player in Fantrax, however it was one of the guys on his 40-man list lol.

Also, why don't we look toward starting the draft on the weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. That gives everyone a little extra time.

I don't think there is much I can do about my unprotected players, all the guys I dropped can't be minored and I have no room for them on my roster.

It's more about having only 5 unprotected players as any that aren't drafted are retained by you, so in your case you'll have to drop the extra guys completely and will have to either draft them again yourself or pick them up after the draft if you still want them. Otherwise other GM's will just up there amount of unprotected players with guys they outright dropped if they are interesting enough to maybe retain.

It's unfortunate that you weren't left with a full allotment of minor leaguers, but aside from that, the maximum number of regular players any team can have is 25. That includes their 20 protected players, and 5 that remain on their rosters, but are unprotected during the draft. Any above 5 have to be dropped. Certainly Rivera is the first obvious choice, since he's retired. You'd still need to drop another 2.

Rosters have not yet been locked, so one option may be to try to trade 1 or 2 of those guys. As Matrim said, you can always add them again later during the waiver draft, or in the FA period afterwards.

Just a quick look at Metals list of unprotected players there are three guys he can easily drop outright in Rivera(retired), Betancourt(not signed, may retire) and Bailey(probably won't pitch till September).

I noticed that the draft lottery ordering was applied to all rounds not just the first.....I assume that was a mistake as no pro/fantasy leagues do that. Lottery is for determining the first round only, and the subsequent remaining rounds all are determined based on reverse order of standings.

Also if two teams are tied in win %/points, a coin flip determines their first round position (if they're not in the lotto) and then their positioning flips each subsequent round.

You're right. Good catch, I'll make the correction later today. The top 4 in rounds 2-5 (barring trades) will be:

Montana
HP
SBW
JCY
