Habs trade PK Subban to Predators for Shea Weber

Weber is respected throughout the league. The only people who don't like him are butthurt Subban fanboys who won't give Weber his due until they're able to devise a fancy stat which measures an opponent's fear when going into the corners against him.

The way some people on this board whine you'd think that Bergevin traded Subban for Yannick Weber instead of Shea Weber.

There is one person on this board who won't stop whining even if we win the cup. :bye:

“People said it was a hockey trade. I think it’s the furthest from that,” Subban said to Prewitt. “I think it was a personality trade.”

It was never a hockey trade , we wanted a different dimension in the locker room and on the ice . Didn't want the rock star attitude and as many have reported the distraction in the room .

There was no way Nashville makes this deal without Josi on their roster . They knew the cap rules were going to kill them at some point if or when SW retires early . They got younger and a marketing dream in return , plus a player better suited for their system.

Also there's an aspect that's yet to be mentioned, David Poile's in his mid/late 60's...won't be doing it much longer before calling it quits. He's going for it with Laviolette's type of player / system, if it doesn't work some other schmuck will have to deal with the Weber cap hit cleanup etc...

Excellent point Sal , both teams wanted a different look and got it.

Also I think neither have a NTC so both could be dealt again if doesn't work . No brainer deal for Poile .

Why is it such a big deal that personality was part of the deal? Personality has always been an evaluation metric, even at the pre draft stage.

Agreed but this regime is made up of Stone Age robots who can't tolerate flair and prefer no frills to thrills . But clearly he had to be a dick in the locker room and brass wanted him gone , don't think he was well liked at all .

The crowd seemed to enjoy what Weber brought to the table tonight. He got as big a cheer for leveling that Leafs forward who's name escapes me at the moment as he did for his goal.

I don't see how changing the chemistry in the room means it's not a hockey trade. It's s hockey trade.

I still HATE this trade. I still HATE the flabs 'brain trust' for their milque toast uber honkey approach to hockey. **** them all. If in the unlikely event the Habs were to meet the Preds in the finals, I'm a Preds fan. In fact I love them.

Does that make me a 'predaphile?'

shit.

my point is there is no separation as chemistry/personality or whatever you want to call it goes into every decision you make when building a team
