New York Yankees (2010-2013)

Re: New York Yankees

*sigh*

Driving to work today, I was a tad torn. I don't want St Louis to win, because they have the 2nd most WS wins. I would normally not want Boston to win, but:

1. They have fewer WS wins and, more importantly

2. A Sawx win might guarantee that the Yanks will spend more on FA's this winter (ie, get more of them).

*sigh*

Re: New York Yankees

While I see where you're coming from...

**** that... Go Cards!!!

I'll gladly take the Cardinals getting to within 15 championships.

George King III: The Yankees have shown interest in Korean relief pitcher, Seung-Hwan Oh. (LINK)

The team has also been linked to Japanese RHP Masahiro Tanaka, Korean RHP Suk-Min Yoon and Cuban RHP Ordisamer Despaigne.

While nothing is guaranteed, it's nice to see they're at least looking to dip into the International market again after shying away for years (since the Kei Igawa fiasco).

Man, I hope they sign Despaigne. His name sounds like a Marvel Comics super villain.

The Yankees have re-signed SS Derek Jeter to a one-year, $12 million deal.

_____

While the Captain gets a raise on his potential $9.5 million player option, here's an important note:

The Yankees will save a couple million dollars in luxury tax by giving Jeter this new deal. Had he triggered his option, the AAV for this season would've been $14M+.

Re: New York Yankees

Or not.

Joel Sherman reports if Jeter had picked up his option, the AAV would have been $10.75 million but will be $12.8 million with the new deal.

Re: New York Yankees

Today at 5:00pm/et is the deadline to make the $14.1 million qualifying offer to your own free agents.

Robinson Cano and Hiroki Kuroda will be qualified, while it's still up in the air whether Curtis Granderson will receive the offer.

Re: New York Yankees

The Yankees officially announced they have made qualifying offers to Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson and Hiroki Kuroda.
