OT: American Politics

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

He wasn't Muslim. The Toronto Star article even describes how he ate bacon with his father, as was their usual tradition, before heading out that day.

There are a lot of Christian Syrians.

I was responding to KB and he's "Arab/Muslim". As if that has any bearing.

Oh, silly me. Of course. We all know eating bacon makes it impossible for you to be Arab or Muslim.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

My Jordanian friend in first year almost cried when he accidentally put bacon bits on his salad in first year. We talked him back from the ledge when he informed him nothing resembling real pork is in there.

But of course let's ignore that no practising Muslim would ever eat pork!

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I guess one can defined his gang bangers by carrying a knife. My father carries a pocket knife with him all the time. He's 96.
That's a generational thing. He probably uses it to carve little wood statues.

Most other people carry smart phones, not switchblades.

Ready to eat crow yet on adamantly claiming that BULLETproof vests are STAB proof?

Suck a D, Frosty.

None of my positions have been overly offbase. Though I'm sure as a Liberal you are just lining up to vilify this officer, then step up and make amends by giving the union a monster pay raise.

You watched a blurry iphone video from 50 feet away and now feel the right to ask questions

I would say this is about as an off the base position as one could hold. Even the chief of police thinks we should be asking questions.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Sure. All Muslims follow every single tenet of their faith, just like all Christians do.

1) The religiousity of the average muslim vs the average christian isn't remotely close.
2) Christian's have a built in system of forgiveness for their sins, Muslim's don't
3) Christians have to do one thing to be Christian, believe that Christ is their saviour. Muslims have to believe everything in the entire book faithfully (or at least fool themselves into believing they do) to consider themselves Muslim. There is no built in system of repentence for Muslims.

So sure, someone can eat pork and call themself a Muslim, but they're not a Muslim. Just like I can call myself a ****ing racecar driver but if all I do is ride a pedal bike, makes me a bit of a liar, no?

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Ok. You can go ahead and believe that every single person who calls themselves a Muslim doesn't eat bacon. Sure. Knock yourself out.

Idiot.

It's written right into their book. Explicitly, that every word of the Qu'ran is perfect and to doubt or not follow disqualifies you from being a Muslim. This isn't like Christianity where you can eat bacon and then pray for your sins.
