OT: Movies/TV Shows

Just got back from experiencing Life of Pi.

My God. What a stunning visual masterpiece that film was. The music, the acting, the cinematography (it has a legitimate Oscar opportunity in that category). Just brilliantly shot and executed by Ang Lee. That was a story that they could have easily squandered with the transition to screen, but I think it came across as even more enjoyable than the novel.

Great film with the most effective use of the 3D format that I have seen to date.

not at all.

Twister - funny crazy guy
Boogie Nights - super sweet semi-moron
Flawless - flamboyant drag queen
Magnolia - sensitive nurse
Talented Mr.Ripley - suspicious friend
Almost Famous - cynically hilarious veteran music journalist
Punch-Drunk Love - bombastic wannabe gangster
Owning Mahoney - corrupt fraudster gambler
Capote - effeminate writer socialite
MI III - supervillain
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead - evil corrupt bastard
Doubt - molesting priest
The Boat that Rocked - tre cool radio jockey
MoneyBall - annoyed manager

Don't forget his greatest role ever. Along Came Polly - Hilarious/delusional former child star. "Make it rain!!!"

Movies are shite. Any poseur can act for 90 mins. Try keeping it real for 90 hours.

I'm still bitter for Phoenix pulling that bullshit move a couple of years back with his fake documentary on quitting acting. That was so stupid and such a horrible idea to hijack his career like that.

I thought it was pretty funny.

He was pretty convincing. I saw him on Letterman while in mid hobo character.

They really killed the entire joke by admitting it was a hoax a couple of days before the movie was released. That was puzzling.

And the great Letterman interview was the highlight of the entire gag. Problem is we saw it for free a year before the film came out.

It just seems like such a shocking waste of time for two big talents like Phoenix/Casey Affleck.

Mr. White looks and reminds me so much of my tennis coach/trainer, it is almost like they studied him for the series. And of course he just loves the show. This is the guy who invented the Sydney Crosby style of play and Crosby's trainer grabbed all the moves.

All the great actors we love and cherish, mostly play themselves with a bit of a twist. I have met quite a few of them, and shit, they play themselves in real life, they just have the look and the voice to enhance themselves.

really have to watch more breaking bad....cannot recall how far i have made it into the series

season 2 or 3 i think

The world we live in ruined what was a good Andy Kauffman-esque idea.....just not feasible to keep a wrap on something like this for any significant amount of time. Had they been able to keep it quiet that Affleck was making a "documentary" about it as it took place, it had some real potential.

That said, I'll give talented people enormous credit for trying things that others would never even dream of pulling off......even if it falls flat. Much rather that than them just doing the same old same old, over and over again.

I still think there was a big question of if it was real until Affleck admitted it was fake right before it opened. It just seemed like odd timing on his part.

I recall hearing during Phoenix' exploits that one of his best friends was documenting the whole thing with an eye towards making a movie about it, which fuelled speculation that it was all for show.....and by the time it was ever close to coming out it was basically common knowledge that was the case.

Maybe my recollection of the events fail me.....but I feel like I knew this thing was a hoax way before they acknowledged it as such.

looks like he's following the mike seaver path

"Two and A Half Men" star Angus T. Jones has slammed his CBS sitcom in a new religious-themed posting on YouTube.

"Jake from 'Two and a Half Men' means nothing. He's a non-existent character," the actor, 19, said in a more than 14-minute clip, posted by The Forerunner Chronicles, an apparently religious-themed video channel, on YouTube on Monday

Jones went on to urge fans to stop watching his show.

"If you watch 'Two and a Half Men,' please stop watching 'Two and a Half Men.' I'm on 'Two and a Half Men.' I don't want to be on it," he can be seen saying in the clip. "Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth, please."

The actor went on to seemingly suggest that entertainment television can be the devil's work.

"People say it's just entertainment. The fact that it's entertainment -- do some research on the effects of television and your brain and I promise you, you'll have a decision to make when it comes to the television and especially with what you watch on the television. It's bad news," he continued. "So I don't know if it means any more coming from me, but you might not have heard it otherwise, so just watch out. Watch out. A lot of people don't like to think about how deceptive the enemy is. He's been doing this for a lot longer than any of us have been around, so, we can't play around. There's no playing around when it comes to eternity."

In another video, posted on Sunday, the actor also revealed his past drug use, including marijuana and another substance.

"The summer of my senior year [of high school], I started doing acid," he said.

Angus' comments on his CBS show may come as a surprise to many fans. Just last month, the actor told AccessHollywood.com's Laura Saltman that he had fun shooting scenes with Miley Cyrus, who played his romantic interest on the sitcom, because it finally gave his character Jake some non-Skype related screen time this season.

"What I was really glad about was the fact that I had more than one scene and I was actually there in person for the scene rather than over [a] Skype call," he laughed, at the time, referring to how Jake, who had joined the military, was only appearing in the first few episodes of the season via the Internet video call service.

Warner Bros., would not comment when contacted by Access on Monday.
