OT: Soccer thread

so how good is Vicario? you've now watched more of him than I have.

thsave is geo-blocked by sky…but..

and a before/after of that save he made after the Udogie blunder….

And this is all his touches in probably his best game playing the ball…..but also his save of the season to this point as well, about halfway into the vid.

it's interesting because Donnarrumma has been the special one since he was a teenager, and he's still a great shotstopper, but he hasn't progressed with his feet at all and has kind of stagnated a bit.

Vicario's a late breaker but he might actually challenge him for a spot on the NT, if he ever gets the chance.

He’s in an ideal opportunity to do so, cause if there’s one thing all the players have said about Postecoglou, it’s that he makes sure you know he doesn’t care if you make a mistake…..he cares if you’re not trying to be aggressive/creative….he can accept a error being made from trying to be offensive, he can’t accept being too conservative.

So I think as these weeks begin to mount where he’s got a full week of training with no midweek game, as well as tons and tons of in game touches every week….his confidence & play on the ball should hopefully just get better and better.

another thing I forgot to mention, and it’s a bit hard to know just how much credit he deserves when watching from home…but the defense is always really well organized, and very rarely exposed, despite it often just being Romero and Van De Ven, and there being all sorts of space in behind the tucked in fullbacks.

don’t know if Paratici, Levy, or Scott Munn deserve the credit…..but given all the top clubs this kid had after him, it’s pretty brilliant to have come away with landing him by offering not only a great transfer fee….but sweetening the pot by signing off on him remaining with Hajduk Split for two years to develop, as well as us allowing Perisic to leave on a free in January to join their squad. 👌🏼

Slick stuff.

That's no bueno.

Kind of a huge year for serie A to try and build off last year, keep a bunch of stars, and start building some new stadia. But already the stars of Milan (Leao) and Napoli (Osimhen) are unhappy.

Hojbjerg to leave Tottenham during the January window, Juventus currently interested with his agent flying over today to discuss possible details of a move. Spurs want €30m for him, which is plenty fair for a player of his ilk, imo….28yo, year and a half left on his deal, transfermarkt values him at €45m.

love to have that influx of extra cash to then splash on Gallagher.

Richarlison in for Brennen on the left, who is out of the squad hurt this week, Son (striker) & Maddison both starting after talk of being doubtful, and wunderkid Donley has been called up and made the bench for the for the first time.

He’s our closest thing to Maddison in the whole system…but just 18 years old.

If you don’t already have Liverpool-Tottenham on, you should….6 minutes in and it’s already been beautiful stuff. Both teams going all out at one another. 👌🏼

Incredible sliding tackle from Udogie on Salah…..then a pair of huge saves from Vicario on Gakpo minutes later.

The Premier League’s Serie A representatives coming up huge early…

Man, that’s a tough red card for Liverpool, imo….to me that’s one that’s not given when watched in full speed. But isolated in slow-mo the ref feels justified giving it at the replay booth.

Richarlison you beautiful bastard….what a beauty feed to Sonny, after Maddison sent Richie in with some magical passing.

what. a. goal.

I’ll take the 3pts, but the red cards took away from the game imo.

Tottenham have now beaten every Prem team that has come to the new stadium. 👏🏼
