I wouldn't read too much into it, this has been a disaster season largely because of covid. Would have won 50 again if the season was played out of Toronto without covid dicking around availability. Coming off of a horseshit 1-9 stretch and still have a better point differential than Miami (4th) and Charlotte (6th). Remove the covid fuckery and we would be comfortably 4th in the conference, nipping at Milwaukee's heels for 3rd.

This era was always going to come to close roughly around now. Maybe we could have extended it another year or two by bringing Serge back, getting Danny in free agency to come back, adding another veteran body. Have to turn the page over eventually, and doing it after a goofy bad luck season where the team wasn't bad at all is probably the best way to go. Take your lottery pick, take your assets from trading the bodies and start fresh in the summer. Nothing to be sad or mad about. Keep it moving, back to 50+ wins next season.

Yeah... no sadness/anger here. We got a chip. Now we get to retool. Sucks not to be able to give Kyle a proper goodbye but we’ll get another chance.

That's the one emotional bit I struggle with. The idea of Kyle playing his last games as a Raptor in Tampa Bay.

I'm hoping that he ends up in Miami, signs a 2 yr extension, we go quick retool and are top of the conference again next season or the season after and trade for Lowry at the deadline in 2 years as Miami is sliding back down because Jimmy and Father Time start spending more time together.

I have a hard time judging anyone in this fuckery. If he gets a good summer of work in, gets back to his Toronto life and still looks like this next year. Start shopping him.

I'm serious about Kat though. After these deadline moves, I think we've got the pieces to go get him without giving up Pascal or Fred. Slotting Pascal back in as Robin would be big for him I think. More corner 3's, more off the ball movement, more focus on transition.

KAT would be the optimal target for sure. Minny is an absolute tire fire.

And if we get some tank and lotto luck our pick is hella valuable.
 
I wouldn't rule out buying if the target is right. For instance if the Kings are insisting on giving away Marvin Bagley or Richaun Holmes id partake, same with Lauri Markanen of the Bulls

Yeah, that's my thought process. We're only a couple games out of the bottom 5. That pick, Miami's 1st for Lowry, the Knicks 1st for Powell, both probably top 20 and whatever kids they throw us. Not too many teams can offer more futures than that (even OKC peddling LAC future 1sts would have a hard time topping that.

There's no way KAT is going to want to stay there after this season and he's fucking good. MVP contender good.
