I think from a pure talent standpoint the best team vying for that spot with us is Baltimore, and the 6 games we have with them in September with dictate alot

i think with the way the O's are hitting the ball and Rogers/Bradish/Baz looking at minimum competent as the front end of the rotation, i think they should be considered the fave going forward for the last spot, with us very close.
I dont think Texas/Cleveland/Minny are any good and Detroit sold off too much

These guys will take any living breathing SP with upside.
The main and honestly only reason we are on a streak is the back end of our rotation, Max/Shane have been mostly pretty good over their last 4 starts. They wont need to do a bullpen game this week with the offday i dont think, but i imagine Spencer gets one more AAA start before he's asked to join the rotation.
The offense is still pretty terrible

Missing Vladdy, even Fake Vladdy, hurts us in games where we're just barely trying to squeeze by. One timely single to cash in a run and we get the win.
And not having Barger, and instead needing to roll with the likes of Straw, is a big downgrade too.

Its massive, even the hope Vladdy gets it back, is better than say McAdoo, who i kinda like as a bench bat ( better than Davis).
George is a shell, Kirk is sorta back, Okamoto is either on fire or terrible, Gimme/Bateman offer no real slug, and Clement is a free swinger thats good but also doesnt really offer much slug.
Its just not good

After his first good start with the Cubs, I didn't see it noted anywhere that Gaus got killed in his second start. Tagged for 6 ER and the loss.
