OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

i don't know if you're joking or not, but the new rule is that you have to have 2 infielders on each side of 2nd base. On that play the team brought in one of their outfielders for "the shift", so there's only 2 OF.

Wasn't joking. I thought that no player was allowed to move to weird spots anymore, didn't realize it was just infielders restricted and not outfielders. You'd think they'd have known this would happen?

The old way, nobody wanted to bunt the other way and hope for a single. This way, a few people driving balls into open outfields for doubles and triples would put a stop to it pretty quick, I would think.

Is there anything stopping the 3B from lining up in LF?

I believe so.

At the start of each pitch, teams must have at least two infielders on either side of second base, with all four positioned on the infield dirt. Infielders may not switch positions unless there is a substitution.

Yeah, two OF is going to go pretty badly for guys who get shifted. A lot of them can go the other way in the air. That’s why they were sometimes going with 4OF when that was allowed.

Yeah, the only guys who will see this new crazy shift are the Gallo types, who are true freaks of nature. Normal pull hitters you don't want to open up the gaps.

Classic Toronto sports moment. The passion for Blue Jays baseball in Canada returned big time with those back to back playoff runs in the mid 2010s.

2015 jays should have won the WS. They were endearing and entertaining. They were talented, full of star veterans, had a lot of characters on the roster, the best offense in the majors, good pitching.

will never forget the 3 months of joy and pain after the jays got David price and Troy tulowitzki. We were on fire. First time in 10 years that a Toronto sports team was legitimately contending for a championship. The buzz around the city was insane. Game 6 of the 2015 alcs against Kansas City will hurt me forever. So close…the Mets were not as good as either ALCS team(kc and Toronto) the WS championship was for the taking that year.

There are few moments in my live sports experience that I've enjoyed less than looking up at the clock in the dome and seeing 9:57 in the 7th inning of a game the jays were up or down by more than 3-4 run in.

That or similar has happened a bunch of times over the years

Some games just move, and you don't mind spending the time with them. But yeah, if a random weeknight game starts at 7 and I'm home by 10 or 10:30, that's fantastic. If it's too early, bars are still open to grab another drink.

I come in from barrie, so had either a drive or a train ride ahead of me. Game taking 3.5 hours means I'm home after midnight on a Tuesday
