Their goaltending is perennial trash. It's tough to be better than a bubble team if you've got trash goaltending.

The kid's definitely a project. He's missed a lot of time to some pretty serious injuries since being drafted, and hasn't played too well in the KHL when he has been healthy the past couple of years.

Nice to see him showing some hands around the net, though. Toss him into the developmental program with the Marlies, work on his skating and see where he's at in a couple of years.
 
Harpur is easily the worst dman out there tonight.

Lilly the best. Though gravel I've liked too.

These aren’t the Habs. The veterans should be ashamed though, absolutely no pride or energy. Sure the game means nothing to them but damn, they’re level of don’t give a shit is on high.

If I were Julien I’d threaten some of their spots.
 
Why is carrying 8 defenders even a good thing? I'm getting tired of hearing these guys drone on about our cap implications. Who cares if there's someone to get ther #7 defender his popcorn in the press box when the AHL team is 15 minutes away?

I thought Schmaltz had a good game too. He's got tools -- can skate and handle the puck. Not sure about the IQ but it's not Zaitsev bad or anything.

He's younger than you think, though. Only 27. Contract ends at age 33.

True that he's slow now and only getting slower, but looking at this flyers team now he's a huge upgrade imo.

I also really like niskanen too, though he did fall off bigtime last year.
