We aren’t getting that for Muzzin.I'll post the plan again with one addition:
Trade Muzzin for a 1st, 2nd and a B prospect
How many teams have a Vas type of goalie? Spoiler: Most contenders do not.a functional NHL goalie. cool. cool cool cool.
I thought this team was supposed to be a "contender"?
Lindholm was a rental. Extremely different circumstance. It's almost the same package the leafs traded for muzzin when he had 1 year left on his deal. If you want to remove the 2nd or B prospect to account for aging have at it. But the bones of the deal will be similar. We aren’t getting that for Muzzin.
That’s basically the Lindholm trade and everyone said Boston overpaid
That they promptly extended for 8 yearsLindholm was a rental. Extremely different circumstance.
did they not extend him for 8 years?Lindholm was a rental. Extremely different circumstance.
Doesn't matter. He wasn't under contract next year. Ducks were moving on from him so either they trade him for stuff or they lose him. With Muzzin they don't have to trade him. They're in the drivers seat. That they promptly extended for 8 years
did they not extend him for 8 years?
1. I don’t see itLindholm was a rental. Extremely different circumstance. It's almost the same package the leafs traded for muzzin when he had 1 year left on his deal. If you want to remove the 2nd or B prospect to account for aging have at it. But the bones of the deal will be similar.
I wouldn't trade him if they can't get a package like that. He's really good and arguably their most or second most important defensive d. I cringe at the thought of losing him. But he's aging, will save some cash (especially if you sign Gio for 3-4m less), and still has enough value left after a great playoff to be able to get a decent return. Wait too long and he may be worthless. But unless you can get a nice return for him, you keep him because they would miss him dearly.1. I don’t see it
2. If he is that valuable an asset, why are we trading him?
You are correct, he did show his age this season. and therein lies the problem and the reason you won’t get that return in the off-season. Trade deadline, maybe? But why are we trading him at the deadline if we are competing?I wouldn't trade him if they can't get a package like that. I removed the B prospect or 2nd rounder for you. Do you think a 1st and a 2nd or B prospect is a lot for a top 4 physical d with two years of term? A guy who did a fabulous job against the two time defending champs in a playoff series? If so, why? At all?You are correct, he did show his age this season. and therein lies the problem and the reason you won’t get that return in the off-season. Trade deadline, maybe? A lot of it also depends on who you are trading him to.I removed the B prospect or 2nd rounder for you. Or course I'm not speaking about a top 10 pick. It would be a late one for a team with cup aspirations. That's not a large price to pay for a guy of his caliber.A lot of it also depends on who you are trading him to.
are you wanting a top 10 pick? Or content with a 25-32 pick? Why is a team with a top 10 pick trading for an aging d-man?
You might be right that he has that value but I personally don’t see it.

Same conversation in the NFL with QBs. It’s a position you need a fucking stud to win championships. How many contenders have a Jack type of goalie?
btw Vas wasn't even Vas most of the series. but it was still more than good enough. why is that?
I agree. They should upgrade on MrazekHow many contenders have a Jack type of goalie?

Leafs are the first team in NBA/NHL/MLB history to lose a winner take all game five years in a row. Cemented indeed.hard to get rid of this choker label, which is well cemented.
How many teams lose a round in which they won game 1 AND had a 3-2 series lead?
