I will readily admit that JT likely did not want to make this disclosure when he did, and did so because of the Globe story. But he did not need to say what he did in Parliament, he chose to. A similar chain of events played out on the China election interference story and he handled it differently, which backfired.Within political circles it’s collectively recognized as being forced to disclose something before you wanted to, when you get word a news agency is going to break it otherwise.
again, just semantics differentiating between the two tho. Especially when the original argument was he was just doing it for optics & political points.
I think he's just learned from his mistake on China. which, if this thread is any indication, does appear to be paying dividends.
and as a citizen, I think it imperative we be made aware of things like this, so I do support the disclosure. the timing of it reeks of politics though, which has obviously somewhat rankled me, even if I agree with most everything else y'all are saying about it.
